History: Band of Masters (2020)
The first edition of Band of Masters is a story born out of a shared passion for beauty and art. Michał Wojewodzic from The Shoemaker workshop on Retoryka initiated a project that initially seemed audacious but quickly garnered the commitment of exceptional artists. Together with a group of renowned tattoo artists from Kult Tattoo – Asia, Patrycja, Nona, Tomek, Michał, Rafał, and Szymon – they created a unique collection of shoes that became the fruit of their extraordinary craftsmanship and creativity.
Each artist undertook the challenge of designing their own pair of shoes, crafted in the workshops over the span of three months. The result of their hard work was a collection that surprised and delighted its audience. These exceptional works of art, blending tattooing, craftsmanship, and artistic vision, were unveiled on October 1, 2020, during a ceremonial vernissage at Forum Przestrzenie. This event was a celebration of creativity and a testament to how contemporary art can take on remarkable forms, embodied in these iconic shoes.
Band of Masters 2 – Warsaw, May 31, 2025
After a five-year hiatus, Band of Masters returns in a new edition, promising unprecedented scale and impact. The 2025 edition will take place on May 31 in Warsaw, showcasing a series of exhibitions that will present the artists’ works in even more surprising ways. This time, the collection will encompass the full spectrum of artistic techniques, including painting, sculpture, and thoughtful deconstruction. Selected artists from Gallery_Warsaw, known for their exceptional talents, will showcase their skills in a completely new context.
Importantly, this year’s edition of Band of Masters will be part of the prestigious Night of Skyscrapers: 2025 Edition, organized by @nowawarszawa and @gallery_warsaw. This integration will make the exhibitions an essential part of one of Warsaw’s most electrifying days, combining art, architecture, and culture into one spectacular event.
